Coming Soon - Red Wing
For more than 100 years, Red Wing Shoe Company has been crafting purpose-built work footwear for specific jobs. From the factory floor to the construction site, from refineries to railroads, on oil rigs and docks, today’s modern craftsmen trust Red Wing to deliver premium quality work boots and shoes with the features, fit, and service required for their demanding jobs.
Founded by Charles Beckman in 1905 after gaining support from 14 other local business investors, Red Wing had the one simple goal; to build a better work boot. The original work boot design combined leather, laces and buckles for a secure fit. The first Red Wing shoe plant is still used today for the new product development of the company.
The original Red Wing shoe company logo commemorates the leader of the original inhabitants of the upper Mississippi region, Chief Red Wing. Details such has the signature triple-stitch sewing pattern were used in the construction even when the company was in its infancy.

During The Great War Red Wing switched production of their trusted and durable boots to help the war effort, supplying the AEF with essential footwear. In 1919 Red Wing introduced the Brown Chief boot, which consisted of special leathers and tanned to allow them to withstand the rigors of farming. This boot expanded Red Wing’s fledgling reputation across America.
In the mid 20s J.R Sweasy became president of the Red Wing Company, subsequently the next two generations of the Sweasy family went on to follow his lead. Around this time Red Wing then introduced the Oil King Boots for oil field workers, this was the advent of Red Wing producing tailor made boots for specific occupations.
In 1928, the Red Wing winged logo was introduced modelled after the feathers used in the ceremonial headdress of Chief Red Wing this iconic symbol is still found across the range today and has become synonymous with the brand.
In the 1930s they produced their first steel toe work boot as well as introducing a mobile shoe sales service allowing them to bring the product directly to factory workers.
They continued to innovate and expand their range as well as make further improvements throughout the following decades. New techniques such as using urethane soles gave superior durability and comfort.
Today Red Wing operates in a surprisingly similar way as a century ago; the leather used is still skilfully hand-cut to give a high quality end product. Other classic methods and procedures such as original sewing machines and the triple stitch sewing pattern are also still prevalent.
