Puma is a major German company and was originally founded by Rudolf Dassler. The company was founded in 1924 after Rudolf fell out with his brother Adolf and split. The company is well known for making athletic shoes for sports such as basketball, football and running. Puma is known around the world for its football shoes and has been branded with football superstars such as; Pelé, Diego Maradona, Kenny Dalglish and Gianluigi Buffon. Puma is also well known for sponsoring the 100 meter world champion Usain Bolt.

Now the company Puma offers lines of sports clothing and shoes designed by Lamine Kouyate, Amy Garbers and others.Since 2007 Puma footwear has been part of the French luxury group PPR and owns 25% of the American clothing make Logo Athletic.

The various types of Puma footwear include; trainers, motorsport and designer shoes. Some of the actual designs Puma footwear do, are named after there designers, such as Rudolf Dassler, Alexander McQueen and MY-57.
