Sa-kis.co.uk Sneak Peak at S/S 2010
15th December 2009
With a new year almost upon us, the Fashion World will soon be turning their heads to see what the new Spring/Summer 2010 season will bring us. Sa-kis.co.uk has identified two brands that will be launching sizzling collections for the new season – one’s an old favourite but the other’s about to make their debut appearance, and it’s looking good.
Evisu
Evisu and fashion go way back. Started by Hidehiko Yamane in 1988, the name was inspired by Ebisu – one of the Japanese Seven God’s of Fortune, often pictured with a sword and fishing rod. Evisu was born from the frustrations felt by Yamane over the lack of authentic, vintage-style jeans available on the market. His vision for Evisu was that it would fill the gap in this market, bringing vintage-stlye jeans that were produced the original way – no fancy machinery or gimmicks and certainly no mass production.
To make the product he wanted, Yamane had to use machinery from the 1950’s. Due to this limitations, although true to his intentions, he could only produce no more than 14 items per day. Once the jeans were crafted, Yamane would then hand-paint on his signature Kamome – the iconic Seagull logo.
Evisu was a massive success for many years, and quickly found fame away from the brand’s home of Japan. It was the United Kingdom’s first ‘Premium’ brand, and effectively opened the market up for other brands to follow. However, in recent years, Evisu has lost its world-wide premium appeal and had become more of a streetwear label, only retaining it’s preium/collectors image in Asia.
In early 2009, Evisu worldwide appointed a new CEO (chief executive officer), Scott Morrison. Morrison is well known for starting and building up two of his own denim brands: ‘Paper, Denim and Cloth’ and ‘Ernest Sewn’. Morrison aims to refine the perception of Evisu and take it back to its original roots. He will be trimming down the brand’s lines – no more EEE, Deluxe or Heritage – and focusing on what made Evisu great to begin with: “For Evisu we're re-envisioning our roots ... resetting the clock and dialing it back to 1991. We're loveing raw denim (of course) and a number of really amazing vintage inspired washes in our core selvege fabrics.”, he told Denimology.
While the full force of Morrison’s shake-up will not be seen until A/W 2010, the effects of his appearance will be strongly felt in the coming season. Sa-kis.co.uk has seen a lot of great items coming from them – gone are the oversized, overused Kamome logos – the focus is now on making the brand live up to the jeans.

Luke Simon
Luke Simon is making its debut appearance in S/S 2010 and Sa-kis.co.uk is excited to be one of the very first retailers to bring it to you.
The Luke Simon menswear collection hails from New York, captures the life and essence of its origins – it is the perfect embodiment of the sights, sounds and cultures of the USA’s flagship city. It is a celebration of the art, design and music that New York has embraced and cultivated.
Luke Simon is relaxed casual wear, it’s an easy wearing range for an easy wearing lifestyle. The collections provides for the softer silhouette, one which encourages the wearer to take things a little easier – to take time out of their daily routine to really absorb their surroundings and enjoy life a little more. It gets on very well with denim, so even the most jean-centric wardrobe can reap the benefits from it.
The theme for Luke Simon’s Spring/Summer 2010 collection is ‘Urban Zen’; with a creative elegance this collection encapsulates lightweight, relaxed menswear that unites ease of style with the superb quality of Japanese-sourced cotton and linen.
