Farah Vintage Short Sleeve Shirts


Mansour Farah, founder of the Farah company, studied shirt design and manufacturing in New York City towards the start of the 20th century. Upon completing his studies in the early 1920's Farah set up a small factory in a shop in El Paso producing blue chambray shirts. Then in 1935 Farah expanded their range by moving into producing khaki work pants and shirts.

During the Second World War, Farah converted from producing civilian clothing to army gear and were subsequently awarded an army-navy E award. In the 1950's half of Farahs production was sold to JC Penney, Sears and Montgomery while the other half was sold under the Gold Farah label.

It wasn't until the 1970's that Farah reached the cult status it still holds today, and it happened here in the UK, particularly with the youth of the country. The original Farah slack made from the finest hopsack canvas became an instant hit with quality tailoring, stain resistant technology and a sleek slim cut the trouser was unique at the time of its release. read more
